Class Project Fundraising Jerry Smith reported that the Memorandum of Understanding with the USNA Alumni Association/Foundation signed in June by Jerry is still under review at the Foundation.   The plan for raising our 50th anniversary gift fund will include contact of some prospective donors by classmates rather than by Foundation fundraisers.

Class Ring recovery After Elizabeth Woodbury, Association ring coordinator, discovered a 1961 class ring on e-Bay, Bob Denis bought it on behalf of the class.  The treasurer is to reimburse Bob $1270.90 for his expenses.  Although the name is partly worn away, efforts are continuing to identify the owner.

50th Reunion Planning Executive Vice President Tom Corboy reported that he is still investigating possible conflicts with class dates for use of Alumni Hall in 2011.  Bob Sherer will be updating the class history for the occasion.  The idea of a remembrance DVD was also discussed.

Association/Foundation Affairs Jerry Smith reported on a letter from David Tuma ’64 Class President accusing the Boards of Trustees and Directors of malfeasance in the performance of their fiduciary duties.  As Trustee for the Classes of the 1960s decade in the council of class presidents, Jerry intervened on Captain Tuma’s behalf when the Association/Foundation leadership stopped dealing with him.  Tuma has since retracted his letter with an apology.

George Watt ’73 has left his position as President/CEO, and the search committee is continuing the process of finding a successor.

Meeting time Howie Winfree moved to advance the Executive Committee meeting time to 1800.  Mike Roth seconded the motion; it carried unanimously.

The committee expressed appreciation to Mike and Ruth Roth for their hospitality.

Next Meeting.  Monday 1800 10 November 2008 at Bill and Judy Hartman’s.
